I agree but bear in mind that the long primes are made in runs or batches, not on a constant production system. Costs are recalculated on each batch and as we all know there have been significant currency fluctuations, as well as shortages caused by the Fukushima situation. This has resulted in some of Canon's lens prices rising but you shouldn't assume that Nikon's prices won't follow and close the differential. After all the same events also have affected Nikon.

I never thought of that, Well that isn't encouraging for anyone who wants a new long lens from either company. Sigma needs a new 500 F4 IS lens as there new 120-300 is quite good from examples i have seen online. I mean really $9500 for canons new 500 F4 if it ever comes out is crazy high in price. my 2008 car was only 16 grand.
