Who is the winner in the night? D800, D4, D3, D3s?

Well done "real world" examples.

I've been using a D3 and was contemplating a D800.

I'm leaving for Tanzania in a week and needed a back up camera (can you believe it costs almost $600 to rent a D3s for 2 weeks?).

My local dealer has not yet received any D800's, but had a D4 on the shelf last Friday.
I snatched it up, and now I have to suffer with that instead of the D800
(I doubt that this predicament will garner much sympathy!).

Seriously, for my own typical photography needs, the D4 and probably even my D3 fit most of my needs well.

The D4 speed and focusing accuracy is much more of an improvement over the D3 than I had anticipated.

But I might consider selling the D3 once I return from my trip and pick up a D800 later as a "back up" camera that has some obvious advantages (and a few disadvantages) compared to the D4.

That big D800 file size freaks me out a bit though...might force a computer and/or storage upgrade....and I'm a bit burned out on spending $$'s on photo stuff at the moment.

Thanks again. Really useful demo!

Best Regards,
