Flash for SX40 (G11) - opinions on sub-flash

Never having had an external flash I have read a bit and I buy in to the importance of bounce. (totally wow, huh) But the next physical feature seems to be the sub-flash that the Nissin 866 and Metz 58. Other than a couple comments about the Nissin being too strong at 1/8 power (it can go down to 1/128 at this point on Canon) I haven't seen too much.

So, Is it worth $270 for the 866 vs. $160 for the 622? I know that's all personal but if you voice your opinion and reasons perhaps it will help me reason an opinion for myself. Of course, if there is some other distinguishing feature i should be focusing on I would much appreciate it being pointed out too.

As the subject says this is for an SX40. While I am mostly a non-person photographer (thus making 840mm useful) and more for the outdoors, I would sort of like to change that somewhat and I expect many situations with people to be indoors in low light... hence the flash. Oh, I got my girlfriend a G11 a few years back, so it could end up on that as well.

Thanks!

Canon PowerShot G11
