Why no fixed aperture f/2.8 or f/4 zooms for mFT?

Yes: f/2.8-3.5 and f/2.8-4 beat f/4, and Olympus has designs

Completely agreed: the f/2.8-3.5 and f/2.8-4 designs that Olympus has for 4/3 SLR lenses need be no bigger than constant f/3.5 or f/4 designs, and give more options. I do not know how feasable f/2.2-2.8 designs with good performance at f/2.2 are, and the ymir end up more expensive than comparably "fast" f/2.8-3.5 designs for APS-C format, so I do not see much point pushing too had for heavy fast lenses in a small format. But moving up from the initial entry level and small, compact options to add some faster upgrade options like f/2.8-3.5 seems a good plan now that the system is maturing.
Smaller lenses, better in low light, more telephoto reach:
you can have any two at one time.
