EX1 - overexposed after perfectly fine preview on bright days

Hey there,

I'm very happy with my EX1 in low light conditions, but now that the sun has come out, I consistently encounter an error that vexes me very much.

All the preview possibilities (preview image, EV meter on the bottom, histogram) show a decently exposed picture. The resulting picture though is horribly overexposed. I'm not talking about the behavior that has been reported in the forum, where a different metering option or a -0.3 EV changes things, I'm talking glaring images taken with f6.7 and 1/1500s on ISO80. The white in these SHINE. When it would actually be, say, a f4 and 1/500 image, as given in preview, I can then compensate by adjusting so that the preview is virtually black. Use in daylight is therefore almost impossible.

I tried all the modes, the problem is everywhere, but seems to be stronger in all the non-automatic modes (A, S and M).

Does anyone know of this behavior and maybe had it fixed by Samsung? I was in three stores today and got three opinions. One was to live with the drawbacks of digital cameras and work with the white setting, one was to update the firmware, and the third was to send it to Samsung for adjusting. I bought it used (yeah, I know... please don't point it out to me), so sending it would be a last resort.

I did a firmware update this evening and will try things tomorrow, but I'm too curious and too skeptical that this could fix it, so I'm posting now. Seems as if the camera doesn't do what I tell it to...

Samsung TL500 (EX1)
