lens joy: Nokton 50mm f/1.5 LTM

After some hemming and hawing over whether I needed one, and listening to several people swooning over it, and a good friend urging me to get while the getting's good, and realizing that this lens is now discontinued for several years, I decided to nab one.

It's a bit on the hefty side, beautifully made, and a little front heavy on the GXR. No problem though ... I'm likely going to use it mostly on the M9.

The imaging qualities are superb. This was just a very fast, casual snap with the M9 last evening in my office:

and here's today's portrait of Tomiko & Wendy:

Leica M9 + CV Nokton 50mm f/1.5
ISO 80 @ f/5 @ 1/350 s

The rendering qualities are to die for ... It's as good as the Summicron and Summilux 50mm lenses I owned in the past. At $700 new (while they last), a true bargain.
