Possible Senate enquiry into high costs of imported products in Australia

I read today that there may be a senate enquiry in Australia regarding the high costs of imported products being offered for sale in Australia by international companies, compared to other countries, and especially with available prices within the USA.

Adobe was one of the companies mentioned by one of the senators involved.

About time too, as many of these companies hit the public in Aus with massive increases over what is available in the USA. And bear in mind that the AU$ is about 5% over US$ value these days.

For example:
USA CS5 $299. Aus $502
USA Lightroom 4 $149 Aus 205
USA Dreamweaver $399 Aus $667.

And we have all seen that Sony, Nikon and Canon also price gouge in Australia.

No doubt they also do it in other countries, but at last there might be some serious questions asked by Senators to bring prices back to levels of reality.

Sony A77 on Sony USA site body only. $1400
Sony A77 on Sony Aus site body only. $1899

I don't hold much hope, but at least it looks like something might happen at government level soon.
