If I may suggest; next shot you take to check for spots set the aperture even smaller(higher f) and crank down the shutter speed then while taking the shot move the camera around a little. I do the same thing you do to check for spots, snapping walls or ceilings and doing it this way smears out any bumps or specks that might be on the subject making the sensor dust spots stand out more clearly against the more uniform background. Or just defocus before shooting.
