G12 Third Party batteries and chargers
Mar 21, 2012
Hi,
My third party G12 second battery is either a dud or the Canon charger is refusing to fully charge it. I get very few shots from it and it doesn't hold charge very long when carried as back up.
I think I recall seeing a post in this forum that someone else had the same experience and had started using some sort of third party universal charger to charge their after-market batteries, and was then getting successful charges. (I can't now find that post in the search function.)
Does anyone know for sure if the G12 charger is definitely seeking a chip in the Canon battery? And does anyone know of an actual aftermarket charger that will take the G12 battery and give it a full charge? I'm in Australia, and I'm hoping that a cheap charger can be found here, otherwise I guess I'll have to toss out the one I've bought and buy a new Canon brand battery at a hefty price.
Thanks, Rod
