Mostly curious about Amazon. If you have got one in transit I'd be curious to know when you ordered.

And conversely, anyone got a delay email?

I've gotten neither, but they still think one will ship out to me today. Ordered the 13th.

Yep, I wouldn't expect it, but they are still saying I'll have tomorrow. Kudos to them if they pull that off.
 
This is what I got in the e-mail after chatting with a representative. He probably meant March 21st since it is my estimated delivery date.

I contacted Amazon with a question of changing my method of payement and if I do will I lose my spot in the pre-order line. Well during my conversation this is what I got from the Amazon rep regarding shipping estimates

Pawxx:Kenneth, I am very sorry for the inconvenience caused to you.

We are getting thousands of contacts for this product. We still not receive the item from the supplier. Supplier didn't fulfill their promises to deliver the item on time. Due to which, Amazon is also facing many problems. I am very sorry, the item is currently out of stock. And once it is in stock, we will definitely ship the item as soon as possible.

Me:Ok. Did I loose my spot in the pre-order line?

Pawxx:You are not losing the pre-order line but its just a mistake from the supplier and unfortunately, you won't receive this item sooner.

Not encouraging, but sounds like there's some glimmer of reality in that feedback. In a way that's better than the "Oh, you and everyone else on the planet will all have this camera INSTANTLY!" kind of response we've been getting.

Oh man... my hemorrhoids are hurting so bad that I can't get out of my computer chair to check the front door. UPS just dropped off a squarish box about 10 x 12 inches...When I am feeling up to it I will go check and see what is in the box..... crossing my fingers.....

Ordered with overnight shipping within an hour or so of the preorders initially going live on Amazon.

Just spoke to an Amazon rep as below...

"You are now connected to Ankush from Amazon.com.

Me:The item says it'll arrive by tomorrow...but it's not even preparing for shipping yet...is there a delay?
Ankush:Hello, my name is Ankush. I'll be happy to help you today.
The item will be shipped anytime and you will get the item by the date.

Me:Okay...I was just hearing rumors of the Amazon not even receiving the camera from you distributor, so people were going to be missing the expected date. But what you're telling me is that I will receive the item tomorrow. Correct?
Ankush:No need to worry, you will get the item by the date."

Called again, they said they had an indication that they now have an unknown amount of inventory and there's still a good chance they will ship tonight. Not sure I believe them at this point, but I hope they are correct.

I also noticed that the listing now shows "Add to Cart" not "Pre Order" and they they say, "Usually ships within 1 to 2 months".

Oh, and there's a review now, LOL! Looks like they've shipped at least one!

I decided to actually speak to them, rather then have a chat session. When I explained that I could not understand how it is due tomorrow and had not shipped, the young lady went away for a 5 mins and came back telling me they could not ship and did not know when the distributor would get it to them..... back to square one... Amazon are normally much better then this...

So there is a glimmer of hope Amazon may be able to pull through after all.
That's the glass half full way to see it. Amazon has no idea what's actually happening in their warehouse may be the more accurate way to look at it.

umm... did you read that "review"? It's a bozo saying "I can't wait to get this awesome camera!" and he then rated it 5 stars. without seeing it or touching it. Everyone should click the "report this review" button as it's ridiculous to have a rating for a camera no one has seen.

As far as we can tell, no one other than a few NPS members have received a D800, and we can't find anyone on Amazon who reliably has even received a "shipped" notice.

Ah, your right. I misread it. I was hearing "Camera just came IN today, can not wait to try my hand at it and test it out." when what the review actually says is, "Camera just came OUT today, can not wait to try my hand at it and test it out."

So, yep I was thinking he had it in hand, but your right he's probably in the same boat as the rest of us.
