A walk through time

Thought this morning about all the cameras I've used. It all started with a Pentacon M42 my father gave to me.

First money I earned as student I put into a Practica which was produced in the former GDR (East Germany). Very inexpensive, great Zeiss Jena lenses, electronic was so unreliable you had to always carry a second one (which was still cheaper than a Nikon or Canon at the time).

Alread then I wanted a small camera to take every where, and Olympus had just the right one for that:

Then for a short time I've tried Ricoh

only to be replaced by Nikon (I've started to earn real money

Then digital hit the road and I tried the Dimage 7 along with the IXUS

The Dimage 7 gave great IQ but was dog slow

So I finally embarked on the Canon train with 300D (what an ugly camera in silver), then 350D, 450D to arrive at the 7D along with G9, G10, G11 - and now G1X.

With the 7D and G1X I think I found something to stay with in terms of IQ and features I need. Every once in a while I ponder whether a FF Canon is something I need (or want). The answer is probably no. Have a good Sunday!
