Use live view to focus or timed release on Canon or mirror lockup on Nikon.

Liveview works around it, but it is a workaround, slow. Why bother with a mirrorbox if it only causes trouble? The only advantage nowadays of using a mirror for landscape photography is the better viewfinder; won't be long before EVF can compete with that.

I would disagree that dual slots is not an attractive feature for a landscape shooter. I would hate to have a card failure cause me to lose a bunch of shots that I hiked miles to get. It's not just for high speed and capacity.

never had a card failure (in the camera) in my whole life using many different cameras, countless images ...IMHO the card is not the weakest part of the chain, as long as you use a proven type. Maybe it's different if you are heating up the cards with machine gun shooting speed, but that's not likely to happen with landscape photography.
