Actually I think you are right. The 5D3 is not aimed at landscape photographers and Canon have probably made the decision, even if reluctantly, that the landscape market has had to be sacrificed because in the scheme of things it's just too small.

There are plenty of photographers beside landscape photographers that would appreciate an upgrade in image quality after waiting three years. Photographers who already have a 5D or 5DII have that because they chose image quality. They could have bought other cameras with better AF or better ISO capabilities (at least the last few years), but they chose the 5D. Exactly the 5D line should tell Canon something about the market for high IQ pictures - it is way more general than just landscape photographers. (Which, for the record, I'm not).
