Now Im worried. I was planning to "upgrade" my 14-54II for a 12-60 SWD... I never have any problems with the 14-54II, so now with several posts about the 12-60 SWD problems... it makes me think about it.

I have never read a post with problems with the 14-54II.

How reliable is the 12-60 SWD compare to the 14-54 II?

I've got the 14-54 Mk I, and never had any problems with it, but only tend to use it when the 12-60 goes wrong!

I've not heard of my zoom locking problem before. The SWD motors sound like they go occasionally (I don't do vast numbers of shots, and mine's still fine). The aperture gets mentioned every so often as failing, and the front hood mount section detaches sometimes, either through tight-fitting hoods, or a fall or knock. The failure pins designed to protect this section are a bit too fragile.

There are probably quite a lot of 12-60s out there, and they probably get used more than anything else, being so versatile. Oly are fairly good about sorting out problems, so a calculated risk that works for me.
