D700 light leak?

Tried out new 10 stop and 6 stop ND filters on my D700 today. Full sun exposures longer than 60 seconds produced this. The longer the exposure, the more pronounced.

I tried the same test on a D300s with same lens, camera positions, CF card and exposures...No fog, no problem.

I tried the same test again on the D700 but with lens cap on. A six minute exposure produced a black image ---except the pronounced fog was there again.
Tried it again with a different lens on the D700 and again, got the "fog."

My theory is that the lenses are not light sealing on the D700's lens mount. The camera looks normal and, with normal exposure times there is no problem, only when longer than a minute in daytime ---a situation not encountered save with heavy ND filtration.

Camera itself was in the shade.

Anyone else ever see this?
