Coopers Hawk, NYC park, NX11 & 400mm mf Lens!
Mar 12, 2012
Hey guys, New York City has been experiencing some incredibly warm weather the past few days and I went for a stroll through my local park in the Bronx called Cotona Park.
I spotted a Cooper's hawk eating a Quaker parrot which have been populating NYC local parks the past 10 years- they are quite noisy birds and build tremendous nests out of twigs--it's my understanding they are not native to NY (USA at all) but have somehow adapted to our winters and have colonized many local NYC area parks. Well it appears one of these Quakers met an early demise by a local NYC raptor called the Cooper's Hawk....here's the images and video I was able to capture with the Samsung NX11 and manual focus Sigma 400mm APO lens via Nikon mount adapter~
