Price up a package you wont go wrong

Those are about the packages I have been looking at:
(Prices from B&H for reference)

5DIII 24-70II & 70-200 II then 35L= $10,386
(I didn't have the 85l)

D800 14-24, 24-70 Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8G= $9,284

I've owned a 5D Mk II and Canon lenses, and I have owned several of Nikon best APS-C bodies and some of their best lenses like the 70-200 VR. I have also ordered a D800 mainly because I've always wanted a D700, but lately have been learning video production and editing so the D800 features, and my lifelong preference for Nikon won me over.

I prefer Nikon's viewfinders, and I absolutely love that I can use AIS MF Nikkors, which functionally, and optically are excellent, and the low prices make them extremely attractive. One reason you see so many Canon 5D Mk II videographers shooting with either Zeiss or MF Nikkors is for video where manual focus is preferred, a lens with a proper dampend MF ring is far nicer to use than an AF lens.

Lastly, the above package with the D800 and the so-called "holy trinity" is the ultimate kit for me, especially if you have any interest in landscape/cityscape images.
Later add an 85 1.4G, and you'll have an incredibly versatile kit. Good luck.
