Is Adding PC Ram Worthwhile???

Hi All

My rig:

Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q8200 @ 2.33GHz 2.33 GHz
Installed memory (RAM): 6.00 GB [4 slots: 2 + 2 + 1 + 1]
System type: 64-bit Operating System
Video Card: Diamond Radeon HD 6450 1 GB DDR3 PCI-E
Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium

I run PHOTOSHOP CS5.1 (64 bit) and DxO Optics Pro 7.2.1 for photo processing.

Don't do any gaming and other than photo processing internet browsing is the main app.

Considering increasing the RAM from 6 GB to 8 GB to increase overall speed and performance . . . particularly with the DxO which runs notoriously slow to begin with.

Asked the tech at BB and he said there would only be a negligible performance increase if I increase the RAM from 6 GB to 8 GB and not worth the $70 expenditure in his opinion.
Would have to replace the 2 x 1 GB cards with 2 x 2 GB cards.

Can anyone confirm that there would only be a negligible increase in performance going from 6 GB to 8 GB and not worthwhile?

Can anyone approximate or guess what the speed increase would be . . . 1% . . . 5% . . . 10% . . . ???

Worth spending 70 bucks on???

Any thoughts, comments, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
