Advice please on tablet purchase for viewing images directly from my D700

I'm getting very interested in purchasing a tablet of some sort so that when I'm out taking pictures (Nikon D700 on tripod), and I click the shutter, I can immediately see the image just taken on the tablet's screen.

I've seen this done on YouTube using an iPad and wirelessly using a special wireless memory card.

1) - I'm seriously not interested in doing this wirelessly (I believe I can see that this will only bring about frustration/delay/expense/complications) - I'm happy for my camera to be connected to a tablet via a cable.

2) - I'm kinda 'against' Apple in a way because I prefer Android more than Apple's 'hold' on marketing/apps/what they allow into their system as it were.

(having said that, if an iPad is the best solution I would go for one).

3) - having spent not a huge amount of time already looking at what's out there, I see that no tablet I've looked at has a slot for inserting a memory card into it. My budget isn't big and whilst I'd love a 64gb machine, a 16gb is more my range (budgetwise) and I can see 16gb would be a restriction (say if I wanted to put movies on my device).

4) - is this really easy ?? I'm not an expert but all I'm looking for is the ability to 'preview' my images and nothing more (I'll delete off camera, I'll edit once back at my computer). Excuse my ignorance, but is this what a HDMI socket would be needed for ??

So, Android (Samsung) ?? iPad ?? Something else ?? (I did have a HTC smartphone and much preferred the Android system over Apple's straightjacket (to me) approach to things.

Many thanks for any help you can give.
