Would you pay $8-10k for a D4x with the D800s sensor that can provide 8+ FPS?
My guess is that that will be the next version of the D4 for their usual mid-life upgrade cycle in 2 years. (holy hell that's going to painful on the post-processing computers/hard drives)
Apparently the data processing Expeed ASICs are the FPS speed-limiting factor for the D800, and 2 years is plenty of time to double the processing speed for those ASICs.
Another mid-life upgrade option would be a video-only camera like the Canon C300.
Maybe they'll unify the flash storage formats by then and integrate the WiFi and GPS units.
