They offer it in the D800, which is what most people will opt for.

The tree branches have a very over-sharpened look to them, and the snow on the mountains is very blown out.

No sharening has been applied. While it might not make for pleasant izel peping at 100% on a monitor, this is an ideal setting for print. As for the blown out snow on the mountains, that's due to the choice the photographer made by exposing for the forground. Not the fault of the camera.

Frankly, in different ways, it's not a whole lot better than the dreadful Canon shot of the Slovenian countryside.

Frankly you have to be kidding. The image viewed in it's entirety is very compelling.
