Will a M4/3 AF be as good as DSLR?

...pending confirmation with a real life test of the E-M5, it might already be there. First of all, contrast autofocus will be different than phase based in how it performs. There are things which it can do less good, but there are things it can do much much better. So a comparison always has to take that into respect.

As others have said in this thread, the single autofocus of the E-M5 should be there speed wise - at least with the lenses which support fast CDAF. What really intrigued me was some demo I saw of the E-M5s focus tracking. One thing which sensor based AF can do much better than PDAF is for example eye-tracking. Based on face-recognition, the E-M5 seems to have uncanny ability to track your subjects eyes across the frame. In this respect it might actually be ahead of PDAF cameras.
