Reading mode: Light Dark

Is it just me or does this 5dMk3 image look odd with square stars?

(warning large image).

Aside from the blotchy noise (which could be due to post processing), the stars almost look square. Kind of reminds me of the original 5Dmk2 issue with dark spots under bright lights - later corrected in a software update.

Yes - but if it was removed, it was for a reason. Keep in mind these are pre-production cameras. The Mk2 had similar issues - they fixed them.
 
Looking at the images scaled down in an image viewer - they both don't look terribly bad. Only when you pixel peep at full size do you see the anomalies.

I'm sure they will be fixed though.
 
Looks pretty good for ISO 6400 on my 26 inch monitor.
