Filter or not, no significant difference.

I had questions about the IQ of my new 85mm f/1.8, so I was taking photos on a tripod to eliminate camera shake. Then, I decided to take several photos with and without a B+W F-Pro UV filter to see if the filter significantly affected the IQ. I use a filter because I shoot mostly outdoors in Hawai'i, and ocean spray is a significant issue. I would rather constantly clean a removable filter than the camera lens. One can view a filter from many more angles to ensure that the entire glass surface is clean.

I never believed that quality filters have a significant effect, but I never actually tested that belief. It never seemed like an issue, as I always have been satisfied with my photos' IQ. Below are the results, and I do not see any significant differences.

Just though I would share my results for any new dslr users on the forum.

FYI, I used my old and much loved 350D for these cropped photos, my first dslr, to take the photos.
