maybe i'm in a minority, but to me it's very important that i can go on a one or two week trip where i can't charge batteries. so as long as mirrorless can't significantly improve on their battery life they aren't really an option for me. but power consumption and battery technology has been pretty steady in the last few years

That Mario, is a very good point!

The batteries used are too tiny because the mirrorless cams are not meant for pro shooting, yet. Yesterday I shot with the otherwise great Fuji X10 but ran out of the battery toward the end of my two hours "walk around town". A strange experience. Next time I take another battery with me, it´s truly tiny and only about 12 $ anyway.
