SZ-30MR Provides an Excuse

'There is a BIG cruiseship in' said Sandra on the phone. 'It's got "Queen Elisabeth" written on it - that's a bit unusual, isn't it?' So I spent a couple of hours in town before lunch. The Queen Elisabeth was one of three - the others I will brag about later.

She was due to leave at 8:45pm, at the same time as the radio club committee meeting. I had the temerity to excuse myself from it to both the secretary and the vice president.

The weather forecast had been for rain, but us spectators enjoyed a sunset on the Devonport water front -

Finally she backed out of Princes Wharf with the aid of a tug -

Then she passed in front of the Sky Tower -

And as she was about to pass us on the water front, she turned on the deck lights -

I am beginning to remember to take stills during the video takes. Since the Queen Elisabeth is very big, and also she has no side thrusters, it takes more than half an hour to get her out of the harbour. So my first video has been edited down to eight minutes -

If that is still too long, here is a 3 minute version -

1600x1200 stills can be found here by clicking on 'original' in the captions -
