Using Z96 LED for portraits??

Hi- I have been asked to take individual shots of the lady and her escort at the Annual Valentine Banquet. I do not want to use the on camera flash as most of the people wear glasses and I get lots of reflections in the eye area. I will have fair amount of light from the lights in the dining area but thought some extra light would help. I will also probably be shooting ISO 800 with the A580. The lady will be seated in a chair with the man standing behind her. I have made a light pole to put the Z96 on. Would it be better to put the Z96 up on top of the 6 foot pole or attach it down lower on the pole about even with the lady?

Thanks for any suggestions. This is my first use of the Z96. It appears to be a very good light. It has a diffuser panel and a tungsten panel. The light level can be adjusted.
