Speedlights or a real flash system?

Seriously. There is no way to set off camera flashes to manual. What a rudimentary, crippled flash system!

As said, manual wireless works well for Sony flashes.

But if you are shooting professionally, why not look for a better flash system than small speedlights? The light quality is very harsh and the lack of modelling light can be extremely frustrating. Nice for reportage etc., but then you don't need that much control over the system. For more controlled shooting speed lights isn't my first choise anyway.

Professional studio flash/battery pack flash systems offer a variety of reflectors and softboxes to control light quality. For outdoor/portable shooting a system like Elinchrom Ranger Quadra is lightweight, powerful, radio controlled -- and a 2 flash pack is cheap -- for a professional.
