It seems like samsung hasn't released a real successor for the NX10 for about 2 years now, and it's been over half a year that the NX20 was supposed to be announced by regular trends.
but if you look at other companies, they basically didn't change their first generation models either for a couple years. panasonic released the GF1, which was good, but then released the GF2 and GF3 which were all basically the same camera with slightly smaller dimensions.
And Olympus released the EPL1 and EP1, then the EPL2 and EP2 which are all basically the same camera, and even the EP3, EPL3 and now EPM1 are the same camera (although AF was vastly improved).
Sony has been much more conservative with model lines, but the NEX5, NEX3, and NEX5N are all pretty similar as well, the only real difference between slight sensor improvements and physical changes here and there.
So is this worrying about Samsung releasing the NX20 ASAP really warranted? Or is it just because they haven't released repeat models to make them seem active? would it have been better if Samsung released an NX12 after the NX11 alongside the NX200 with some changed physical design? Does it just manifest a secret insecurity that many of us NX users have about investing in the NX system?
Or is our worrying justified...since Samsung might take marketing cues the wrong way and try to push gimmicky use of Wi-fi and useless smartphone integration? Not that I think wifi and smartphone features are
bad
, but they need to be useful things like wireless tethering, not gimmicky stuff like "upload to facebook!" and ooo "touch icons" not that those things hurt, but they can't be the only things present unless they want to tell enthusiasts that they are making cameras like a point and shoot.
i guess i wouldn't mind waiting until may for announcements. but if it goes into summer...well...many other companies will be making announcements by then and they might just be more appealing by that point.
