Canon Compacts - your thoughts

I'm a newbie to these forums but not this site.

I'm not a great photographer but I've been mucking around with cameras since I was little and my primary camera is a Canon 550D - I have a couple of beautiful lenses for it and I've managed to capture lots of pics I adore using it of my kids and all sorts. It's just too darn big to lug around.

2 years ago I my little Lumix P&S diesd and I needed a compact to throw in my coat or backpack on a daily basis and headed out to buy an s90...(or was it an s95?) and ended up going home with a G11. I loved it - gorgeous IQ, stunning colours and amazing macros. However I found it just too slow for capturing shots of my active kids (3 boys) and as such found I was leaving it home more and more. I decided agiain that an s95 would be a better option, sold the G11, and headed out to buy one but was swayed by the Oly xz-1. Much better for candid shots of the kids in motion but I loathed the colours - particularly the blues and greens (I mainly sooc as I just don't have time for hours of processing and have never learnt PS).

I ended up doing a part ex of the Oly for a Sony NEX 5n. I was thinking 'this is the answer a mini dslr' and bought it with a view to eventually selling the 550D and upgrading to the NEX 7. I have carried with NEX 5n with me everywhere since I go it but I kind of realise I rushed in and I don't want to part with my 550D and fast glass and so the NEX 5n is kind of pointless for me - it's neither the compact I envisaged or my 550d in minature and I don't own a macro lens for it etc. etc.

I've decided it's time to sell the NEX 5n and get a bloody canon compact. I'm a canon person I like their colours most, I like their user interface. I've been reading round about the S100 and went and had a play - it feels too small to be real, to live up to it's hype.

Are there any other canon compacts worth considering - Ixus' used to be good - or should I just bite the bullet and do it. I could pick up another G11 or a G12 but I think I'm going to have the same old frustrations trying to shoot my active boys.

I'd be grateful for your thoughts.

(oh and if anyone is after a NEX 5n 18-55 and 16 pancake.....)
