Re: D800 - a dying species

Last Sunday, when having to take a cam with me to shoot pics of my kids ice skating I had to choose between a Panasonic G2 with a 1.8/45mm and the Canon 40D / 5DII with 70-300 IS. The Pana fits nicely in the outside pocket of my winter coat, so guess, which one went with me.

For street pics I now carry the Fuji X10 with me at all times. And for pure fun, I´m using a Contax Aria with Portra 160 VC / NC.

The 5D III and the D800 are just the last of the DSLRs dinosaurs, as I´ve already pointed out in a different thread. Micro four thirds cams (MFT) already give you 90% of the IQ up to ISO 800 at a fraction of the bulk / weight. Most people soon won´t care to carry DSLR around anymore and people still using them in public will begin to look decidedly "weird" / "pro" in another 2-3 years.
