Great shots!

Thanks!

But I do find the bokeh extremely distracting.

I purposefully picked a range of shots to show the range of bokeh. At f/1.2 the bokeh can range from extremely distracting to so-so depending on what you put in the background.

At f/2.8 the bokeh is very smooth (the first shot and the metal girder shot) and the lens is very sharp here.

At f/1.2 to 2 you are going to want to keep your background well separated from your subject by focusing close to the subject or using a less busy background. Interiors often don't have the same complexity as outdoors in a forest, which is extremely tough on lens bokeh. On the shot at f/1.2 where I am closer on my son's face you notice the background is smoother than when I am focused further away.

A lot of f/1.4 lenses don't perform well in the situations I have shown with this lens. So this isn't abnormal for this class of lens. My goal with these shots was to learn how the lens performs more than anything.
