Why not integrate radio based CLS in new models?
I still don't understand why they haven't integrated radio control of the CLS system. The current RF method is far too limited, particularly for pro applications. Radio control would eliminate the need for $1000+ on a TTL capable FlexTT5 system.
Not only that, but Nikon would have a new revenue stream with a captive audience. Who in their right mind would buy a PocketWizard, if there was a more streamlined integrated Nikon solution. For this generation of flashes, Nikon could sell an adapter for wireless control, but in their next gen, build it into the flash.
My only guess is that Nikon does not want to deal with region-specific camera bodies, due to the different frequency bands for radio communication in different countries. I suppose they could add all of them and make it user selectable.
