Yes, I agree but when they do that is because they already know what kind of situation will be, or what kind of work they project to do .. for example on the CPS site there is a video of a PJ with a G1X, the camera works but not in all the situations.

besides a lot of us, nameless and mortals photojournalists, we have to go to the newspaper, editorial, magazine, agency or wathever every morning without knowing what the day will be, a DSLR is the main choice.

Many of these guys will use whatever works for them at the time. In truth they tend to be a lot less hung up about equipment than most of us are.
