the lighthouse is leaning to the right. The ferry must have given the lighthouse quite a wallop. Only joking, (although it IS leaning), nice colours.

Actually Allan, it is leaning slightly both to the right and to the left, i.e. there is a small amount of perspective distortion.

I acn see what you mean Mike, but because of the actual light tower being a lot taller than the rest of the building, it exagerates the effect. I just took the pic into PSP X4 abd used the "straightening," tool, just a few degrees. It makes for a far nicer image, IMHO of course. It is, after all, your image, if you are happy with it so be it. Take care, and have a good week end. Best, Allan

In order to compose the image to my satisfaction, I was forced to be rather close to the structure, and since the camera was aimed above the horizon, there was a very substantial amount of perspective distortion of the building. I fully corrected this in Photoshop, and perhaps because I had become used to viewing the image with the original heavy distortion while editing it, the completely undistorted version somehow didn't look right, so I left just a bit of distortion in place, which, at the time anyway, seemed to look more natural.

I would be interested in hearing the views of others as to whether or not the slight residual perspective distortion detracts from the image's presence as a fine art photograph.
