SD15 exposure bias

I just noticed that in order to get the same shutter and aperture metering with the Pentax K5 and the SD15, the SD15 needs to be set at -1 bias. SO..it appears to me that the metering system in the SD15 is the villain responsible for the blown highlight situation.

I did several shots with the K5 and SD15 to get an idea where noise performance matches. The K5 pulls ahead above 200 ISO but the SD15 produces what appears to be sharper images up to that point. Pixel peeping shows that the K5 has more resolution but less contrast in the small details. When I try to sharpen the K5 images to produce the same micro contrast the noise is actually worse than the SD15. It's quite noticeable in blue sky areas.
