True. I'm not thrilled by it but I'll take a look.

What baffles me is that in the mind of the OP the D700 has suddenly become a bad camera (i.e. "unappealing"). Hell I still use a one DSLR from 2004. Was a good camera then, still is. It's not like the pixel fairies swooped in and changed something.

Well said. Since the OP thinks the D800 with "a huge amount of pixels but slow and clean ISO only up to ISO 1600" is not for him just what is wrong with the D700 all of a sudden?
