Should I trade my 7D and 17-55 for a 5d Mk ii body at this point in time considering the following:

I like to shoot action but the little money I make is from weddings and portraiture. I have a 1D mkii n which I prefer to use for action instead of the 7D in good light.

My remaining lenses will be 24-105, 70-200 f4is and 85 f1.8. I will no longer have a 2.8 lens for general use at weddings and such.

I really like the "look" of the images from the 1d mkii n and that ma be because of the larger sensor (1.3 crop).

I mainly shoot center point AF on non-action stuff.

Video is rarely used if ever.

Thanks for the input.

This is very easy decision. You shouldn't even think twice on this. All your lenses were designed for FF and your wedding images will take on a different look. You will be surprised to find out that 5DII AF is actually better than 7D. I shoot weddings big time and I own both 5DII and 7D. For wedding work 7D stays in the bag most of the time.

Time is money and using 7D for wedding is time consuming and very depressing. Some people will knock me for saying this but don't worry I have a very tough skin as you can see on my avatar.

Remember this my opinion and YMMV.

Care to explain what's better about the 5DII AF over the 7D?

As for the OP's question.

You don't really lose a stop since you'll get better high ISO and you shouldn't lose much depth of field either as it's narrower on full frame.

You already have an action cam with your 1D mkIIn.

24-105 on full frame will be even wider on full frame.

Seems like making that swap doesn't make you lose anything and gain better IQ.
Sounds like a win to me.

... can shoot a wedding with a 5D and a 24-105.

And a 5D II is even better.

Can shoot a wedding with a Canon 10D or Nikon D100.....because many did.

I find room for both in my wedding kit.....a Nikon D700 and Canon 7D.....along with a Nikon F5 and a Holga.

I wouldn't put too much stock in anything amobi says to be honest. While I sometimes agree with his opinion, a quick look at his post history will show you that he approaches many of these threads with bias.

In any event, if OP doesn't shoot action and doesn't require those 19 pts, then he might as well trade for a 5Dmk2.

Portraits are sure to look better on the 5Dmk2 (provided you know what you're doing). I would have gotten one myself, but I don't think it's good value. 7D offers more bang per buck in my opinion.
