My pictures from time to time contain subtle horizontal lines. I am using authentic Epson Ink and Epson Premium Glossy Photo Paper and setting the printer at the highest resolution. And yet I still see these lines. I check the nozzle head before printing and it checks good. Just wondering if anyone know what's causing it and if it can be prevented.

thanks,
Les

When I getthat it's because one or more nozzles is clogged. This often doesn't show on the nozzle check print because the test is on plain paper ina lower resolution than you use for photos.

Hey thanks Chris for the advice. Using the cleaning cycle did stop the tracks. But, I'm starting to get another problem. Towards, the first and last quarter inch of my pictures, I get this yellowish stripe down the side. The rest of the picture is great, so I dont know why its happening. The 820 Never used to do this but for the last 10 prints, they've been coming up. Any ideas?

Thanks

I don't know about that yellow line. The only thing like it I've ever seen has been from when I scan my negatives, if I don't crop all the white border off carefully, I may get a thin light gray line along one side. If you're using a digital camera, that won't be the problem. Magnify the pic on screen a lot and check for a line in the images. If that's not it try re-installing the printer software; maybe it got corrupted?

Oh, I forgot; you might try alighning the print heads too. That can cause that. If you've used the printer a lot and had it a while, they may get outof alighnment.

Any time something odd is happening on both ends of your paper, it could be that the paper is not curved correctly for the printer, which causes the head to drag over the ink on those sections. For the Epsons, the paper needs to be completely flat or curve down just a bit on both ends, rather than curving up. Sometimes damp weather or storing the paper upright instead of flat can cause this.

Thanks, Tricia for the reply. I'll see if that's the problem. I keep the paper pretty flat though. I'm starting to think it might be a driver problem. It looks as if the printer "forgets" to go over a certain section more than once. That's just a blind guess though.
