Orion nebula with 500mm

Bird watching and photography is my greatest hobby and for that reason I own a 500mm F/4.0 lens and both a 7D and 1DMk4 body. I was wondering how much detail I could capture of the Orion nebula without a tracking device. I did my first tests with the 7D. In order to see no star trails I limited the exposure time to 0,5s. Iso was boosted to 6400. Took multiple pictures from tripod using LiveView, silent mode1. Stacking multiple pictures then cleans-up the noise.

This picture is the result of a stack of 30 frames all taken in one burst.

I’m quite happy with the result. What do you think? Maybe the 1D body can reveal a little bit more detail of the nebula with the same shutter speed due to the better noise performance and when making use of even a higher iso setting. I hope to try that soon.
