That's been my experience too. I do most of my processing and convert with DCU4. I find cropping clumsy, so I use another program for that feature.

Interface of DCU is in the beginning difficult, but after a few months it becomes easy. There are aslo excellent tools such as distortion correction, horizon leveling and CA/PF corrections.

I find the interface dead simple. It's just a replication of the camera menus, but with more power and control. As long as someone understands the camera's jpeg processing, they can use DCU4 for superior results.
