Sounds to me as if there is some internal short circuit which is discharging the batteries and it is the SB800 electronics that need checking out. If it is the high voltage side of the flash - you could try using a high voltage pack plugged into the high voltage front socket and see if that cures the problem. If it does then there is definitely something wrong - component failure or short circuit - drawing excess current from the batteries and causing them to go down quickly. I think you need to get the SB-800 serviced and checked out. You don't mention it over heating - so it is not a case of over use by the sounds of things.



If it seems too good to be true - then it isn't. If you cannot believe your eyes - then don't.
