EX1 is still in the game...............

........The way I see it the goal still is and always has been a better "compact" camera for those of us who want an exceptionally good pocketable camera .
This new supposedly excellent G1X from Canon might be a game changer for those who have a Canon G12 or a Nikon P7100 but it isn't my idea of a compact camera. It's larger than the G12 . Wasn't the whole idea of a good compact not having to sling it over your shoulders ? The EX1 has already pushed the limitations of the definition of a compact .
Obviously with the large sensor in the G1X it's gonna have some significant advantages in IQ but I'd much sooner go into a small dslr and have it all than live with the compromises of the G1X. (slow CDAF, size, tunnel VF, slow on the long end and no 24mm wide end) , just to name a few.
