X10 "Pro Focus" comparison photos

Small sensor cameras like the Fuji X10 can't overcome optical physics when it comes to depth of field. That makes it hard to separate your subject from the background even at f/2.

But Fuji has added a cool feature into the X10 called "Pro Focus". This feature will take 2-3 images in rapid succession and internally emulate the shallow depth of field of a larger sensor camera.

For this comparison I set the camera to save the original photo in addition to the "Pro Focus" version. This way you still have the normal version in case you don't like what the camera processor came up with.

Compare the two images at full size on my Flickr page: http://www.flickr.com/photos/internationalphotos/6675683065/in/photostream .

Pay close attention to the background.
