First Pano w/ my new T3 (C&C Welcome!)
Jan 9, 2012
Hey guys.
I've been a long time lurker of the forums, and while I had an account in here a long time ago (like 8+ years since my last post) I no longer seems to exist. So I just made up a new login so please don't think of me as too much of a newbie.
Anyways I got a new T3 for Christmas and I figured I would to share it with you guys for some of your comments and critiques.
It is a picture taken on an overlook near the top of the Palos Verdes Peninsula looking north through the Los Angeles Basin (as far back to the Santa Monica & San Gabriel Mountains).
It was taken handheld and then later stitched together in Photoshop of about 11 images. I used the marine layer/mountain range in the distance as a leveling guide and overlapping no more then 25-30% between the images. I shot it at 400 ISO and 1/320 to try and eliminate as much handheld shake as possible. It was taken at around 9:45am just as the marine layer started to lift. The only editing that was done, other then stitching, was a mild Unsharp Mask filter and very light contrast boost to pop it out of the haze.
I chose not to upload the full resolution image because I don't want it stolen #1, and #2 even when cropped to a clean panorama it is over 16,000 px x 2,700 px full res (a 6:1 ratio).
Unfortunately it is hard to make out in this lower-res image but in full resolution you can actually see a Virgin Airlines jet rising into the sky (top left corner) from LAX (you could also see the LAX Control Tower slightly hidden by the marine layer), new Surfers attending a 'Surf Class', and dogs running with their owners at the closest portions of the beach.
Anyways I thought it was a cool picture and I wanted to share it with you guys. Let me know what you think and I appreciate all the responses in advance.
