I have been wondering about exactly the same thing. If the sensor is indeed 30% better in low light than it was before and the lens and other factors remain glitch free, the 8mp images from this backlit sensor may in many instances be as good as if not "gulp" better than the 6mp images from the X-S1.

Certainly there must be a good chance that the normalised images will be very close indeed, but that is a job for the Kimster to puzzle out.

The smaller size, weight and lower cost of this camera make it a far more attractive proposition to me than the steroidal X-S1, though of course the sublime zooming action will not be there, not that that would bother me in the least, compared to the benefits.
