Costa Rican Butterfly

This subject was pointed out to me by my wife as we were leaving the Costa Rican National Museum in San Jose through the butterfly house.

Shot handheld, Oly PL1 w/ 14-150mm travel lens at quite some distance, the butterfly was up high near the roof on a wall. It was sharpened in iPhoto with some levels, wb and temp adjustment.

I like the texture in the wall plus the green of the algae growing in the cracks and the natural shadows that spotlight the butterfly. This is one of those times when I wish the 14-150 was sharper (I used manual focus assist and tweaked the focus on the butterfly before shooting but at 100% I can only just make out both antennae and there is a touch of chromatic purple fringe on it), but c'est la vie (what can one expect from an affordable and otherwise very versatile travel lens).
