I have been trying to figure out a good way to add extra light to underwater photos in a dark indoor pool with my G9 in an enclosure and it sounds like the Seagull SKY-5 optical slave trigger might be a good option. It is described on this page:

Has anyone used this, or something similar that will ignore an E-TTL pre-flash? My plan is to use a trigger on a flash in a Pelican case or waterproof bag from a distance of 2-3 feet from the flash, so hopefully the on-camera flash won't scatter too much to trip the slave.

Set your G9 flash to manual so there won't be any pre-flashes. The other option is to use flash value lock (if possible on G9) and trigger the slaves twice, capturing only on the second flash.
