Be prepared to used your left hand as a lens shade, even if you're already using the included hood. Shooting into the light, you're inviting flare, and risk losing contrast.
The included hood is most useful for it's physical protection of the front element. With a 24x zoom, it provides no significant protection from flare, except at the widest lens setting. Because, it's really a hood for a 25mm (eq.) lens. For any other setting, especially telephoto settings, a proper hood would be longer. Fortunately, your left hand is always available.
