I've read review and both 24mm f2.8 or 35mm 2f have mixed review, I'm currently using a 50mm 1.4 which is sharp but a slight bit too long.

Is there any very sharp / low f (possibly L len) zoom that would cover the a useful range (zoom would help me justifying its cost).

The Canon EF-S 17-55 mm f/2.8 is very sharp! An excellent lens!

A nice added thing would be a small min focus, it would be great for face close-up with the eyes.

The EF-S 17-55 has a minimum focus distance of 1.15 ft. or 0.35 m. Full specs here:

I currently have the 18-135 that came with my 60D, however its lowest f is 4 which is bad for blury background, and also dosen't focus close enough for big face closeup.

I would be using it on a crop 1.6.

Thanks
